An elective prenatal ultrasound is really an ultrasound for fun! This is not to be used for any medical/diagnostic reasons. We offer elective 3D & 4D prenatal ultrasound to provide a positive bonding experience for the mother, father, family members, and friends with your unborn baby. We feel that realistic surface images provide a connection between the parents and baby that can be beneficial to the whole family. We make no claims that 3-D as used in this examination is performed to better assess the baby for abnormalities. A routine ultrasound examination should have already been performed to assess the gestational age of the baby and to evaluate for fetal anomalies as well as the basic components of fetal anatomy recommended for screening.
As a matter of fact, we encourage it! This is the perfect opportunity for the rest of your family to connect with your precious little one. We have plenty of room in our studio for your friends and family to comfortably enjoy meeting your newest blessing. For those that are long distance but still want to tune in, we offer Live Streaming that allows you to broadcast it live to anyone in the world!
As far as children go, we do have a tent set up in the ultrasound room with toys to keep them occupied just in case the ultrasound doesn't keep their attention the whole time! Depending on the age of your child/children, it might be nice to have someone there to keep them entertained during your scan as you and I will both be preoccupied. If you cannot find anyone to come with you to keep an eye on them, we will certainly try our best to keep them entertained ourselves! Please do not let that keep you from coming. Your kids are more than welcome here and I will completely understand.
Yes! We are appointment-only. Please visit our page "schedule ultrasound now" to schedule your appointment! I will not be at the studio if there is not an appointment scheduled.
Please reach out to me if you are interested in coming in just for the boutique! I will make sure that I am there to help you. Since this is a one-person operation, I cannot promise that I will be at the studio if I do not have any appointments booked. I am more than happy to come in and meet with you if you'd like to shop the boutique. The best way to reach me to set this up would be to text or email!
YES! Water, water, and more water! The best thing you can do for your ultrasound is be well hydrated. It takes approximately 7 days for the amount of amniotic fluid to be adjusted due to water intake. Ideally you will be drinking at least half of your weight in ounces every day for at least 14 days prior to the ultrasound - preferably more!
We also suggest drinking something like orange juice when you are on the way to your appointment. This should get baby moving and hopefully we can watch baby wiggle all around!
ABSOLUTELY NOT! Women seeking an elective prenatal ultrasound with Oh Baby Elective Ultrasound Studio must already be receiving treatment with a healthcare provider for prenatal care and may only rely on a medical, diagnostic ultrasound ordered by their provider to confirm their due date, screen for fetal anomalies, and to look for any other pregnancy related issues. Oh Baby Elective Ultrasound Studio is for viewing pleasure of seeing your baby and finding out the gender of baby only. Please note, at no time is this exam to be used in place of a complete diagnostic ultrasound.
Many women have a diagnostic ultrasound performed at 18-20 weeks. In some cases, your doctor or sonographer may even take some pictures and video of your baby in 3D/4D but this is a very different experience than an elective ultrasound at our facility. A medical ultrasound is focused on looking for abnormalities and performing diagnostic measurements. While fascinating, we feel this focus detracts from the relaxed environment and interactive bonding experience we provide and with the lengthy, unhurried session we schedule you for. In addition, we can determine babies gender as early as 14 weeks and the best pictures of your baby will be captured later in your pregnancy when the baby is bigger and more developed.
All appointments are paid at the time of service. We do have a cash incentive where if you pay with cash, we will give you digital photos free (a $10 value!). Since this is an elective ultrasound and is not to be used for medical diagnosis, we do not accept any form of insurance. You will NOT be able to pay for this service with an HSA card. The machine will automatically decline any HSA card and you will be required to provide another form of payment. We accept all major debit/credit cards.
Yes! For our heartbeat ultrasound package, we will offer a re-scan if we do not hear the baby's heartbeat. Since we perform abdominal ultrasounds and not vaginal, sometime it might take a little longer to be able to see the baby. If we do not see baby, we will give baby some time to grow a little more and then try again!
For our gender reveal ultrasound package, we will offer a re-scan if we are unable to determine the baby's gender.
Lastly, for our Baby Bump package, unfortunately there are some things that are out of our control and we are unable to get a good photo. Things like baby's position, amount of amniotic fluid, and mother's makeup might play a role in this. We will offer one free re-scan if we are unable to get photos of at least half of the baby's face past 24 weeks.
All re-scans must be used within 14 days of your original appointment.
Since this is an elective ultrasound and not done for medical purposes, we do not accept insurance.
Our ultrasound machine is just like one you would find in your doctor's office! We adhere to the FDA's standards to ensure the safety of you and your baby. Extensive studies over 30 years have found that ultrasound has not been shown to cause any harm to mother or baby. Routine scanning of all pregnancies is now normal throughout the United States. In 3D/4D scanning exactly the same type and intensity of ultrasound is used as with 2D scanning. 3D and 4D Ultrasound both utilize sound waves to look inside the body. The technology is similar to radar. A probe placed on the body emits sound waves into the body, listens for the return echo and generates an image. 4D ultrasound will be similar to a conventional scan in terms of exposure.
This is totally up to you! I personally got ultrasounds every two weeks so I could watch my daughter grow. The changes I would see between these appointments were tremendous and blew me away each time! From 6-14 weeks we will do a 2D ultrasound and then from 14+ we will do a 2D/3D/4D/5D ultrasound, depending on the appointment type booked. The best face shots are generally captured between 28 and 32 weeks as baby starts to store fat in their face and there is still enough room to get a good photo. After 36 weeks the baby might be starting to run out of room, but we will try our best to get a great photo of your sweet baby for you!
Please arrive a few minutes early to fill out some paperwork before your appointment time. We also have a boutique for you to browse through if you'd like! If you are more than 5 minutes late we unfortunately might have to reschedule depending on if there is another appointment after yours. Please note that since we are appointment-only, I usually strive to arrive at the ultrasound studio at least 20 minutes before your appointment time to ensure everything is set up by the time you arrive.
Usually, but not always. Sometimes if the baby is persistently looking face down, i.e. towards your spine it may be difficult to see the baby’s face. If this happens, a repeat scan will usually succeed because the baby has turned to a favorable position. We make no promises that the images will be similar to those you might have seen elsewhere or even from our clinic, or that we can always meet everyone’s expectations. Every baby scans differently, depending on its gestational age, position, amount of fluid, and mother’s condition. We promise to make every effort to obtain the best possible images of whatever parts of the baby that can be seen.
Yes! We print out photos during your ultrasound that you can take with you. If you get digital photos/video add-ons, we will get those over to you the same day!
You are welcome to park in the Auto Zone parking lot directly in front of the Oh Baby entrance. If you park there you will have to go up a few stairs. If you or anyone in your party needs a handicap entrance, please pass Auto Zone and pull into the next entrance where the Boost Mobile is. Drive to the back of the building and to the right there is a handicap parking spot.
